The Freedom Trail, Boston, Massachusetts

We took a smooth 1 hour ride on a train from near our campground to Boston early Sunday morning.  It was a perfect sunny day.

The speeding subway then took us to downtown Boston, however, we got off at the wrong exit, about 1.5 miles away from where we were suppose to be.  :o((   We walked the distance.

Along the way we saw this fabulous, old, old stone Presbyterian church.  It was Sunday and the service had just ended.  All these fabulously dressed people were spilling out of the church.

A little of the old and the new.

Brownstone row houses were everywhere.  We saw NO modern condo units anywhere in Boston.

Finally we reached the beginning of the Freedom Trail at the Boston central park and the grand city hall.  That's me on the right taking a photo.

We picked up the "red" brick road and started walking.

This cemetery is where Bejamin Frankin's parents were buried, along with Samual Adams, and Paul Revere.  See Jim?

More 1700 dates on the grave stones.

This sidewalk brick plaque was dedicated to the first Boston City Hall, that then became a school.  See close up below.  Check out all the big names that went there.

I'm sorry to say Ruth Chirs' Steak House and Starbucks now occupy this fabulous building.

Part of the Freedom Trail is a ferry across the "Boston Tea Party" bay to the USS Constitution and museum.

 Boston from the bay

" Permission to come aboard sir?"

Time to head back to the mainland.

Lobster macaroni and cheese and a glass of wine at one of many Irish pubs brought a wonderful day to an end.

Planes, trains, and automobiles.....or trains, subways, and ferrys.  Shall we add horse and buggy?  Nah, lets walk to the subway.
